Teterin’s success is built on the dedication and skills of its employees.

Apart from performing their skills and specialisations at work, they are given responsibilities to be involved in the business and to grow personally through company sponsored skills training at external and in-house courses. The company trains apprentices in all work centres to be skilled in machining, engine rebuilding and field service.


Peter Burgess | Managing Director

After completing a Bachelor of Metallurgy with Honours at the University of Wollongong, Peter began his engineering career in 1977 when he joined Newcastle-based engineering company, Forgacs.

Since that time, he has become one of the engineering sector’s most successful managers, having also worked at Hexham Engineering.

As Managing Director of Forgacs, he was integral in growing and diversifying the business from a local engineering company to a leading commercial and naval ship repair and ship construction company with operations in Queensland and New South Wales.

On 6 March 2007, Peter purchased the Teterin Group Companies during its 60th year. As Managing Director, Peter is heavily involved in leading the company and has maintained focus on continuously improving and expanding its core business and constantly training and growing the capabilities of the company’s team of 60 employees to provide specialised diesel engineering services to the mining, marine, defence, rail, and transport industry sectors. Under Peter’s management, Teterin Engineering has been reinvigorated and its brand identity enhanced with the implementation of a work culture based on customer satisfaction, health and safety of the employees, high performance, quality and efficiency. The company has highly trained and skilled tradesmen complemented by state-of-the-art machine tools and equipment.

Peter’s other business commitments include: current Chairman and Director of Forgacs Group of Companies; a past Deputy Chair of the Australian Shipbuilders Association; a past member of the Australian Business Limited Defence Committee; and a past member of Hunter Business Chamber Defence Committee. Peter is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Away from business, Peter is a keen gardener and with his wife Elizabeth, open their garden to raise funds for local charities including Hunter Medical Research Institute and Camp Quality. They spend time travelling overseas for business and to visit their adult children who have established careers in ‘international commodity trading’ and ‘dressage equestrian sports’ at an international level in Europe.


Tony Fox | Business Development Manager

Tony Fox began his career in 1986 when he joined Japanese bearing manufacturer NSK as a cadet in its Australian Sales & Engineering Operations. Specialising in sales for the engineering sector, Tony completed an Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering during his cadetship and spent 17 years working in Australia and completing engineering assignments in Indonesia and Japan.

This work provided him with senior management opportunities with companies including OneSteel and   Mayer International Design Engineers.

His experience in the engineering field together with his professional commitment to high quality customer service, ethics and   compliance led him to Teterin Engineering in December 2010 and the role of Business Development Manager. Tony has been integral in   the implementation of the company’s integrated system and process management software. He is also responsible for the day-to-day   management of customer and service delivery.


Ian Flannery | Workshop Manager

Hunter local, Ian Flannery, started out as an apprentice fitter and machinist with earthmoving company Breckett in 1974. He became a supervisor and stayed with the organisation for 18 years, specialising in engineering maintenance and machinery.

When Breckett ceased operations in Australia, Ian joined Teterin Engineering as an assistant workshop supervisor.

He has studied an additional six years of further education in engineering at Hunter TAFE, and has now been with Teterin Engineering for more than 20 years. Ian is proud of the way the Teterin Engineering team leads the industry through modern management systems, effective training and highest quality products and services.
